Our Focus

In a city currently looking for an alternative and the breakdown of the traditional Chicago Democratic machine into issue-based, racial, labor, and regional factions, many Chicagoans have withdrawn from political participation. Many who are frustrated by declining quality of life, issues of public safety, and economic disinvestment in our city do not view Republicans as a viable alternative to current leadership because of misconceptions about who Republicans are and what we believe. Many citizens of Chicago know very few Republicans or have never met a Republican and younger generations of Chicagoans have never seen a viable Republican candidate seek public office on the state or local level. The Southside includes many of our city's hardest working communities made up of families looking for common sense solutions that make their neighborhoods safe, allow them to keep their paychecks, and help strengthen their families.

Southside GOP exists to build the infrastructure required to win elections in our part of the city and make statewide races competitive again by engaging our conservative neighbors and inviting them to fight for a better life for us all. In a part of the city neglected by progressive politicians who take our votes for granted, we see a great opportunity to unite the movement of conservative voices spread throughout the Southside to focus on building a winning coalition.

We're organizing Republicans in Chicago Wards 3-21 & 23, from I-55 to Midway Airport to Lake Michigan. Just over a million people live in this portion of the city that hasn't sent a Republican to Springfield since 1983 and hasn't sent a Republican to Congress since 1953. That's 40% of the Chicago population, representing 218,633 families who haven't had a real choice in local elections in decades.

The Southside is changing. While the rest of the state has trended to the left, nearly the entire Southside has trended towards Republicans. Combined with Democratic efforts to expand city influence into surrounding communities, these trends have made races in our area attainable again. In 2000, Illinois's 1st Congressional District, represented by Democrats since 1935, was categorized as a D+38. IL-1 is now a D+18, a swing of 20 percentage points. The 2nd Congressional District has swung from D+37 to D+18. In 2024, Donald Trump won two Chicago Southside Wards and 51 total precincts and was within 10 points in another 32 precincts.

With very little conservative infrastructure built beyond local activist groups and churches, we have the profound opportunity to turn this support into representatives in state and city government and to help add to statewide GOP vote totals that would make Illinois a competitive swing state once again.
